Environmental
The Environmental Public Health Division focuses on preventing environmental conditions and/or communicable diseases that could be harmful to public health. This Division has jurisdiction to regulate the unincorporated areas of Hidalgo County and any city within Hidalgo County that does not have an established health department.

Animal Control
Animal Control Officers respond to reports of bites, strays, and carcasses.

Food Regulation
The Environmental Public Health Division (EPH) works to protect the public's health in Hidalgo County by permitting and inspecting food establishments. Health Inspectors visit at random restaurants, stores, adult & child day care facilities, schools, and other establishments serving/selling food for evaluation of food safety practices.
